A closure of Water Street on March 8 will impact travel on the Capitol Campus.

Where: Water Street between Sid Snyder Avenue Southwest and 15th Avenue and a portion of the Cherberg parking lot.

What's happening: A certified arborist and crew will be on site to perform a “pull test” on the historic Douglas Fir located on the east side of Water Street on the Newhouse construction site. The test will evaluate the strength of the tree and its root system by carefully “pulling” on the tree with machinery.

Impact: The portion of Water Street located between Sid Snyder Avenue Southwest and 15th Avenue will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. All parking stalls will also be closed. Several assigned parking stalls in the Cherberg parking lot will also be closed. Assigned parkers are being notified.

When: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 8.

All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with Hoffman Construction at Seattle for this effort.
