Landslide repairs to hillside near Powerhouse start Monday

Scope & Impact: The Department of Enterprise Services (DES) will be conducting erosion control and repair work on the hillside near the Powerhouse next week. The work will be visible from the Capitol Lake loop. People will see caution tape around the work area.

The repairs will not impact pedestrian use of the Capitol Lake loop or hillside switchbacks.

DES does not anticipate any other business, traffic, or parking impacts from this work.

Where: Repairs will take place on the hillside near the Powerhouse.

When: 7 a.m.-5 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 7, through Friday, Nov. 11.

Why: The maintenance work will repair hillside damage near the Powerhouse. Heavy rains in January caused a landslide that washed out a portion of the hillside soil and vegetation. Future project work will include replacing a damaged fence and planting vegetation to increase erosion control and hillside stabilization.

All work is weather dependent. DES has contracted with Forma Construction of Olympia for this effort.
