Bike race closes Deschutes Parkway, campus streets June 1

The Capital Stage Race, a three-stage, two-day bike race held in the Olympia area, will close some Capitol Campus roads on June 1.

The first stage of the race will close Deschutes Parkway – from near 5th Ave. to the I-5 and Highway 101 interchange – to all vehicle traffic from about 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 1.

The second stage of the race, the Capital Criterium, will close all or portions of several west campus streets, including:

  • Capitol Way from Sid Snyder Avenue to Union Avenue
  • the north and south diagonals
  • the north half of Cherry Lane
  • the Winged Victory traffic circle
  • Water Street, from near the greenhouses to the General Administration building
  • Union Avenue from Columbia Street to Capitol Way

The second stage road closures will be in effect from about 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. also on June 1.

The third stage, on June 2, will not affect the campus.
