Capitol Way lane closure starts Jan. 9 to allow curb, sidewalk and storm drain upgrades

Starting Monday, Jan. 9, the southbound lane of Capitol Way between Union Avenue and 11th Avenue – the westernmost lane parallel to the 1063 Block Replacement Project – will be closed 24 hours a day through Friday, Jan. 20.

Shutting the lane down will provide workers sufficient clearance to replace the existing curb and sidewalks along Capitol Way as well as install new storm drains for the new 215,000 square-foot state office building.

Flaggers will be in place and traffic delays are expected to be minimal.

Depending on weather and site conditions, the work is expected to be completed in two weeks. If needed, Enterprise Services will work with the city of Olympia to secure additional time to finish the infrastructure upgrades.
