Enterprise Services merges automated mail inserting services from two programs to one

OLYMPIA - As part of the continuing effort to reduce costs and consolidate duplicate functions at Enterprise Services, the automated mail inserting services at Printing and Imaging are moving to Consolidated Mail Services (CMS).

Before the October 2011 consolidation of all or parts of five state agencies into Enterprise Services, both CMS at General Administration and the State Printer provided mail inserting services. Now CMS and Printing and Imaging are programs within the Business Resources Division at Enterprise Services.

The project will take about two months to be fully implemented and should be seamless to customers, Business Manager David Tuckett said. The merger will save a total of $57,000 in repair and maintenance.

"It makes sense to have the service in one location," Tuckett said. "Beginning in February 2013, we estimate that more than 2.5 million pieces of mail will be redirected through the CMS facility annually."

Consolidation efforts in the state aren't limited to Enterprise Services. The Department of Social and Health Services recently merged its automated mail inserting program with CMS, saving more than $416,000.
