Capitol Campus Update

To better inform visitors and others about events, activities and the history of the Washington state capitol, the Department of Enterprise Services has created a Capitol Campus Visitor Services Facebook page.

The site will provide regular updates about the hundred of events that take place at the capitol each year. It will also include details about the historical attractions that make the Capitol Campus one of the most popular destinations in the state.

More than 200,000 people visit the capitol annually. The grounds and buildings are hosts to political rallies, memorial events, tours for thousands of school children and individuals, weddings and more.

"We are always looking for new ways to help connect the public with the history and the vibrancy of the capitol," said Joyce Turner, director of Enterprise Services. "This is a great opportunity to let more people have even greater access to what's happening at their capitol."

The Facebook page includes:

  • A current list of scheduled events.
  • Online applications for scheduling an event at the capitol.
  • Online links for scheduling a tour.
  • Links to virtual tours of the Legislative Building and memorials.
  • Updates on campus construction activity, including the upcoming cleaning of the Legislative Building dome that is scheduled to begin in July.
  • Photos and video of significant events as they occur.

Among its many duties, Enterprise Services is responsible for the care and maintenance of the capitol grounds. The department, formed in October 2011, combines services from the former departments of General Administration and Printing and sections of the former departments of Personnel and Information Services. Several divisions from the Office of Financial Management are also part of the agency.
