Inaugural ball, legislative session to impact campus parking

The start of the 2013 legislative session, the Governor's Inaugural Ball and swearing-in ceremonies mean one thing: the Capitol Campus will be busier than usual the week of Jan. 14-18.

These activities and others will result in several campus parking closures.

Preparation for the Governor's Inaugural Ball begins at 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 with the closure of the parking area on the south side of the Legislative Building.

The parking area will be closed so tents can be set up for the ball, which takes place 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Jan. 16. It will remain closed until about 5 p.m. on Jan. 18.

The south diagonal on the west campus will be closed to public parking Jan.14-16. Barricades will be set up at the entrance to the diagonal. This diagonal will be used as part of the drop-off route for guests attending the ball.

Enterprise Services will also block off 15 stalls on the west end of the north diagonal, near the Winged Victory Monument, on Jan. 15-16.

The visitor parking stalls on the west side of the General Administration building will be unavailable Jan. 16, including that night.

Guests attending the inaugural ball are asked to park in designated areas on the campus, not on streets in the South Capitol neighborhood.

The Enterprise Services website has a comprehensive list of campus activities and events.
