North steps of Capitol Building closed September 1

Capitol Campus Update

The north stairs of the Legislative (Capitol) Building will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 so a contractor can power wash a section of the building above the steps. Visitors will need to use the southeast or south entrances to the building that day. Enterprise Services will place signs directing visitors to those entrances.

The Legislative Building is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

The Flag Circle, the area between the Capitol Building and the Temple of Justice, will be closed to traffic that day.

The power washing is part of the Legislative Building exterior repairs and cleaning project. The purpose of the $1.148 million project is to make critical exterior repairs and clean the upper two-thirds of the building.

The contractor will be using a hydraulic lift that can extend 135 feet into the air to power wash the sandstone exterior at the fourth-floor level of the building.

Enterprise Services is posting project pictures on Flickr®, the photo-sharing service, and will post regular updates to its Capitol Campus Visitor Services Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/CapitolCampusVisitorServices.
