Pride event to impact campus roads, Sylvester Park June 20-22

Sylvester Park, the state-owned park in downtown Olympia, will be closed on Friday, June 20 starting at 2 p.m. so the organizers of the Capital City Pride Festival can setup for the weekend-long event.

The annual event includes a parade that begins at noon on Sunday, June 22, at the Capitol steps. The parade then heads north on Capitol Way, turns east on Fifth Avenue and then heads south on Washington Street to Sylvester Park.

The Capital City Pride Festival is hosted by the area's gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and allied community and its supporters.

According to organizers, more than 10,000 people will likely attend this year's event.
