Reminder: East Campus stormwater project to cause minor traffic impacts June 16-20

A contractor hired by the Department of Enterprise Services will use truck-mounted video equipment to inspect and clean the 30-year-old underground stormwater drainage system on the east Capitol Campus from Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20.

The work will cause brief lane closures on east campus roads as well as within several parking garages. The contractor will have traffic controllers and flaggers to safely direct tenants and visitors through the inspection areas.

If contractors find obstructions in the storm pipes, they will use vacuum equipment to clean out the debris. This equipment is noisy, especially when used inside a closed space such as a parking garage. All vacuuming will be done after normal business hours.

The inspection work is scheduled to begin at about 7 a.m. on June 16 on the F level (the lowest level) of the Plaza Garage. Brief lane closures along Jefferson and Washington streets are scheduled for Wednesday June 18. Please emphasize safety in work areas.
