Work on Old Capitol Building skylights begins

Two large skylights on the Old Capitol building, home to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, on the Capitol Campus are being replaced as part of an exterior repair project that began last year.

On Wednesday, April 26, a 135-foot lift will be used to raise materials for the skylight replacement to the building's roof. A 20- by 20-foot tent with walls will also be erected and secured over skylights to ensure weather protection.

The exterior repairs also include masonry work.

Work on the pedestrian pathways at the four corners at the Old Capitol Building will also begin soon depending on weather. The work includes installing ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
