Construction, closures to begin on west Capitol Campus

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Department of Enterprise Services will launch a construction project on the West Capitol Campus to repair utility infrastructure beneath Sid Snyder Way. The work will require full closure of Sid Snyder Way, from Capitol Way to Cherry Lane, near the Legislative Building. Construction will extend into November. Campus tenants and visitors may see workers setting up fencing as early as Aug. 4, but street and parking closures will not occur until Aug. 6.

Contractors to unveil designs for new campus building on March 19

On March 19, three teams of architectural design and construction professionals will present to the public their proposals for a new state-owned office building planned for the block at 1063 S. Capitol Way in Olympia.

The Department of Enterprise Services will host an open house about the 1063 Block Replacement Project on Wednesday, March 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Office Building 2 (OB-2) auditorium, 1115 Washington Street SE in Olympia.

OLYMPIA – Tomorrow evening, three teams of architectural design and construction professionals will present to the public their proposals for a new state-owned office building planned for the block at 1063 S. Capitol Way in Olympia.

The Department of Enterprise Services will host the open house on Wednesday, March 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Office Building 2 auditorium, 1115 Washington St. S.E., Olympia.

Public invited to May 22 meeting on impacts of proposed campus building

OLYMPIA — The Department of Enterprise Services will hold a meeting on May 22 to seek public input on possible impacts resulting from the replacement of two existing structures on the north edge of the Capitol Campus with a new five-story office building.

The next 1063 Block Project public meeting will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the 1500 Jefferson building in Olympia.

State signs contract for design of new 1063 Capitol Way building

OLYMPIA – The Washington Department of Enterprise Services today signed a contract with Sellen Construction Co. and ZGF Architects, both of Seattle, for the design and possible construction of a new state office building on the north edge of the Capitol Campus in Olympia.

The state has agreed to a three-part contract with the Sellen and ZGF team:

Ceremony honors law enforcement officers May 2

Large crowd will affect parking, traffic on Capitol Campus

The annual Medal of Honor and Peace Officers Memorial ceremony will be held on May 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Memorial, located north of the Temple of Justice on the hilltop above Heritage Park.

The ceremony honors law enforcement officers who gave their life or were injured in the line of duty, or who are being recognized for meritorious conduct.

Plaza Garage stair towers closed for repairs beginning Sept. 9

Work begins Sept. 9 on an east Capitol Campus project that requires closing stair towers 1 and 8 in the Plaza Garage until June 2015.

Water has been infiltrating the East Plaza causing some structural damage to the parking garage below, including the elevator in stair tower 1.

Survey work to impact campus parking March 8-9

There will be no parking along Sid Snyder Avenue on the west Capitol Campus from about 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9.

Engineers hired by Enterprise Services will be doing survey work along Sid Snyder. They will be working in the street with portable equipment so please use caution if you are driving through this area on those days.

Jefferson Street landscape work to impact traffic March 5

The two inside lanes of Jefferson Street between 14th Avenue and Maple Park Avenue will be closed to traffic from about 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday March 5 so Enterprise Services grounds staff can do annual landscape clean-up work on the four median islands next to the 1500 Jefferson Street building.

Traffic flaggers and orange cones will be in place during the work.

Utility work to impact west campus parking, traffic March 15

There will be no parking along Sid Snyder Avenue, on the west Capitol Campus, from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 15.

Engineers under contract with Enterprise Services will be excavating small holes in the roadway to locate and examine the condition of underground utilities. The work is needed to prepare for a summertime project that will replace old, failing utility lines and pipes beneath the road.
