Capitol Lake to be lowered during work to replace screens between mitigation ponds and main lake

On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 27 and 28, a contractor hired by the Department of Enterprise Services will replace the screens between Capitol Lake's mitigation ponds and the main lake. The screens are needed to reduce risk of Eurasian Watermilfoil fragments spreading from the ponds into the lake.

To accommodate the work, Enterprise Services will lower the lake level by 2 feet, starting during the high tide Monday night.

The agency will return the lake to its normal level after the work is complete.

Enterprise Services has an ongoing Hydraulic Project Approval for maintenance work on Capitol Lake, issued by the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. This work is included under that permit.
