Capitol Lake to be lowered Oct. 16 in preparation for dam repairs Oct. 17

The Department of Enterprise Services will be lowering the level of Capitol Lake on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. – which is high tide -- in preparation of a replacement of the dam’s main operating cables. The replacement is scheduled to start on October 17 at 5 a.m. The replacement of the cables is anticipated to take eight hours to complete.

Dive crews will be on site. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will not be impacted.

When all work is complete the lake will be reset to the normal winter setting. The lake levels may be readjusted again this week as there is a series of fall storms beginning on Wednesday.
