OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services’ Capitol Security and Visitor Services has issued a permit to The Olympian for its annual Pet Parade. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on August 18. It includes a parade that will begin at 10 a.m. at Heritage Park, wind through downtown Olympia and end at Sylvester Park.

Organizers estimate that 1,000 people will attend the event, which could affect traffic and parking in the area.

Enterprise Services manages the historic Capitol Campus in Olympia which includes five parks and Capitol Lake.
