State surplus virtual storefront offers gently used treasures at a fixed low price

Used office chairs stored in the surplus warehouse

Bargain hunters across the state and beyond have a new option to purchase items from Washington State Department of Enterprise Services Surplus Operations: A virtual storefront.

The virtual storefront offers a wide variety of gently used items including laptops, smart phones, office furniture and tools. It features a ‘Buy Now’ option that allows customers to purchase items at a fixed price.

Customers must register with GovDeals, which hosts the storefront, to use the ‘Buy Now’ feature. There is no cost to register. Registering also provides access to online auctions where customers can bid on higher ticket items such as vehicles, electronics and security equipment.

While the Tumwater retail store remains closed, customers can pick up their purchased items located at Surplus warehouses located in Thurston and Spokane counties by appointment. Shipping is also available for some items. Please refer to the removal options in each item listing for more details. Customers can also make an appointment to preview items that are for sale on the website.

Surplus Operations

The surplus program receives and redistributes surplus items from state and public agencies to other state agencies, governmental entities and private non-profit organizations. The sale, reuse and recycling of goods keeps hundreds of thousands of pounds of materials from being dumped in landfills. Proceeds from sales are returned to state and local government agencies.
