Weekend events expected to bring crowds to Sylvester Park, Capitol Campus and Heritage Park

The Department of Enterprise Services has issued permits for four events this weekend that may bring large crowds to the Capitol Campus, which could affect traffic and parking. Events are permitted in Sylvester Park, Heritage Park and on the North Steps of the Legislative Building.

Olympia Arts Walk takes place Oct. 4 and 5 in downtown Olympia where Sylvester Park is located. Organizers estimate that 1,000 people will attend.

The event Olympia Out of Darkness Walk is scheduled to take place Oct. 5 in Heritage Park from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Organizers estimate 700 people will attend the march for suicide prevention.

Organizers of the Victory Celebration for Our Children’s Future estimate that 1,000 people will attend their event on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the North Steps of the Legislative Building.

Organizers of a Rally in Olympia Against Government Overreach estimate 500 people will attend their event on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Heritage Park.
