Workers are entering the final stages of NRB Garage fire suppression and critical repairs project

All parking on level P-1 will be open by Nov. 3

The work in the NRB Garage is nearing completion. All employee and visitor parking on level P-1 will be open by Friday, Nov. 3, but can only be accessed from Washington Street. Employee parking on levels P-2 and P-3 can be accessed from Jefferson Street only. The 11th Street entrance to level P-2 is scheduled to open in December.

The entrance to the Multipurpose Room and the east bicycle cage on level P-1 are now open.

All waterproofing materials have been applied and workers are putting the finishing touches on the new surface to prevent slipping hazards and restripe the parking stalls. The size of the parking stalls will be the same as they were before the work started.

Due to heavy rains in October, some water leaked into the garage. While one reason for this was a drain that was still under repair, parkers can expect to see some water in the garage as a result of wet vehicles and drainage from the underside of the concrete slabs that are now waterproof. However, as we enter the rainy season, there will be a significant decrease of standing water in the garage compared to previous winters.

Workers have completed the fireproofing and fire systems are being tested. Lighting on level P-2 has been repaired and all exterior lighting on levels P-1 and P-2 have been replaced. Work to replace lighting on the mezzanine and the grand staircase is ongoing.

While NRB parkers are encouraged to park in the “E” and “F” levels of the Plaza Garage, portions of the visitor lot will be reserved for employee parking and agency vehicle parking during the final months of repairs.
