Web Design Principles
This class covers the basics of creating and maintaining a website from scratch. You’ll learn the process of creating websites, key terms, principles, converting images for the web, and types of website software. We will create a simple website and learn basic HTML and CSS coding using Notepad++.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the process of creating a website from scratch.
- Understand important fundamental website vocabulary such as domain, URL, and FTP.
- Define different software options for creating websites.
- Understand best practices and guidelines for planning a website.
- Discuss navigation techniques and terminology.
- Analyze a website to critique what works and what doesn’t.
- Understand the concept of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Identify usability principles and create user-friendly sites.
- Recognize integrated social media on a website.
- Create a simple website using HTML and CSS.

Sales Tax Notice: Effective October 1, 2025
In accordance with Washington State law (ESSB 5814), sales tax will be applied to all training services. In addition to the course cost, sales tax will be calculated based on your agency's location and added to your final invoice after the class is completed.
