Pedestrians will use detours on East Capitol Campus Nov. 14-16

Some pedestrian walkways will be closed on the East Capitol Plaza Wednesday, Nov. 14 – Friday, Nov. 16, 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m., near the Department of Transportation and Employment Security buildings so work can be done to inspect the waterproofing materials meant to prevent water infiltration into the Plaza Garage. Pedestrian detours will be open to parkers using the garage stairs or elevators in towers 1 and 2. Vehicle traffic will not be impacted.

Contractors will dig down to the roof of the Plaza Garage to investigate the level of deterioration of the water barrier. This work is being done in advance of a project to replace the failing waterproofing materials in 2019. The southern portion of the Plaza Garage has been leaking for more than 13 years. The 2019 project will repair the water damage and improve the landscaping surface on the southeast side of the Capitol Campus.
