Sunken Garden open again with new plantings as well as ADA access

OLYMPIA – The Sunken Garden – a popular place for weddings on the Capitol Campus – has re-opened with ADA access for the first time. An updated planting plan for the garden also is in place.

An accessible walking path was constructed around and through realigned landscape beds, and modifications were made to the west entrance.

The reconfigured sunken garden beds will be planted with new woody plants by the end of 2019. A combination of site appropriate perennials as well as pockets of annuals and spring bulbs will be installed by May 2020. The Evergreen Dahlia Society will continue their tradition of planting a variety of dahlias in May 2020 as well.
