The ongoing global opioid crisis remains a pressing concern in today's world. This course helps you understand the varied groups potentially affected by opioid addiction and the factors that could lead them towards such behavior. You will learn the differences between opiates and opioids. This course is an extension of the material taught in the First Aid, CPR, and AED course.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the difference between opiates and opioids.
  • Identify the various groups involved in opioid overdose.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of how Naloxone and Narcan work.
  • Know when Naloxone and Narcan use is allowed.
  • Recognize the different applicators used to administer Naloxone and Narcan.
