Fundamentals of Human Resources

This course provides an overview of and context for the unique aspects of public sector human resources. It focuses on the value of human resources as a business partner responsible for promoting the organization's goals and supporting public sector merit principles, ethics, and culture.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the sub-disciplines of human resources and their inter-relationships.
  • Describe the many roles of an HR professional.
  • Understand public sector culture, politics, and ethics.
  • Explain how HR is a partner in promoting organizational goals.
  • Recognize HR technologies and their uses.
