Scope & Impact: DES is temporarily closing the 14th Avenue entrance to the Plaza Garage and a few nearby parking stalls from 1-4 p.m. today, Thursday, June 22, for emergency repairs to a nearby sewer line.

DES has also closed the East Plaza bathrooms until repairs are complete.

Drivers will still be able to use the 14th Avenue Tunnel, but the entrance to the garage will be barricaded and will not be accessible. Parkers should use another Plaza Garage entrance during this work. The closest entrance is off Maple Park Avenue Southeast.

The service level and loading docks in the Plaza Garage will still be accessible.

Nearby parkers and pedestrians may hear noise from vacuum equipment, and the smell of pumped sewage will be noticeable.

Where: 14th Avenue Southwest entrance to the Plaza Garage.

When: 1-4 p.m., Thursday, June 22.

Why: The work is required for emergency repairs to a nearby sewer line. DES needs to block off this area to access the sewer drain lines and provide a space for the large equipment to park during repairs.

All work is weather dependent. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services has contracted with FloHawks of Puyallup, Washington for this effort.
