Buildings will be closed during this maintenance work.
Scope & Impact: DES will be temporarily shutting off power on June 23 to the O’Brien and Cherberg Buildings and associated electric vehicle (EV) parking on the West Capitol Campus for required work on a nearby power line.
Locations Impacted:
Critical systems will be supported by back-up power, including fire systems, emergency lighting, and security cameras. However, HVAC systems, general lighting, internet, outlets, plumbing systems and elevators will not be functioning.
Nearby EV charging stations will also be unavailable during this work. Use the campus parking map to find alternative charging options.
When: Work will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23.
DES expects to restore power by 5 p.m. that day and DES will send out an updated alert when work is complete.
Why: DES must perform maintenance work on the power line that supplies power to the O’Brien and Cherberg Buildings to remove active in-ground power from the nearby Newhouse replacement construction site. Additional work may be required in the future to permanently re-route the power line.
