Noise, traffic, parking and pedestrian impacts expected during upcoming permitted events

DES has issued permits for a number of events expected to bring parking, pedestrian and vehicle traffic impacts to the Capitol Campus in the coming week:

  • Friday, Jan. 20 - ABATE of Washington event: One section of the north parking diagonal is reserved for a display of motorcycles and unavailable for public parking throughout the day. There also will be noise impacts during the event. The event will take place on the Legislative Building’s North Steps and in the Columbia Room. Sponsors anticipate attendance of 400.
  • Monday, Jan. 23- WA Trucking Association Hill Day: The north parking diagonal is reserved for a display of large trucks throughout the day and unavailable for public parking. There will also be noise impacts during the event. The event takes place on the lawn adjacent to the north diagonal. Organizers estimate attendance of 100.
  • Monday, Jan. 23 – Wheat Day: Organizers WAWG estimate attendance of 1,000 during this event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on the third floor mezzanine of the Legislative Building.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 25 – Dairy Days: Organizers Washington State Dairy Federation estimate attendance of 400 during this event, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third floor mezzanine of the Legislative Building.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 25 – No Airport: The flag circle will be closed during this event, which also utilizes the North Steps of the Legislative Building. Event sponsor Anneliese Feld estimates attendance of 1,000.
