Campus tree trimming and removal planned for June 9-10

A tree care company will be on the Capitol Campus Monday, June 9 and Tuesday, June 10 to remove some hazardous trees and limbs and inspect three fir trees near the Governor's Mansion.

The company will remove two locust trees north of the Archives Building and a dead red alder in Centennial Park, the small park on the south side of Union Avenue between Washington and Franklin streets. The locust trees will be replaced with two paperbark maples that will be planted this fall.

Workers will also prune some limbs on the "Daniel J. Evans" tree, the 150-foot-tall redwood in Centennial Park estimated to be about 140 years old.
